We have a school Chaplain available at Pine Rivers Special School (PRSS). School Chaplains are available to all within the school community to provide connection, support, a listening ear, a caring presence and a message of hope.
School Chaplains partner with other welfare and student services, the P&C, local businesses and community groups including local churches and individuals to provide care and support within the school community. These partnerships assist to walk alongside staff, students and their families through daily life by creating a caring community and bringing meaning, purpose and hope.
Our Chaplain, Sarah Petchell, (also known as ‘Chappy’) commenced her role at PRSS in July 2021. Sarah is employed as a Chaplain by SU QLD. SU QLD is an interdenominational Christian organisation, officially endorsed by Education Queensland as an accredited employing authority for school Chaplains. They have worked in schools for more than 75 years, in partnership with local churches and community groups.
